Research papers and notes on the industries, religious denominations, and Transport Truck Company of Mount Pleasant (Mich.), which were written and compiled by La Beau and students of Dr. Maybee's history 414 class, undated, but probably ca. 1966. The information was culled from a variety of sources, mostly from newspaper articles in the Mount Pleasant Times and Isabella County Enterprise, 1918-1924.

La Beau wrote a thesis on aquatic vascular plants on Beaver Island (Mich.) in 1967 to earn a M.S. at Central Michigan University. A copy of the thesis is in the Park Library. Dr. Rolland Harper Maybee was a history teacher for many years at Central Michigan University. A number of his books and papers are in the Clarke Historical Library, as are copies of the newspapers. Rolland Harper Maybee was born on January 6, 1901 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Harper C. Maybee (1876-1954) and Blanche Maybee (1879-1970). Maybee had three brothers: Allen, Harper Jr., and Eugene Maybee. Rolland attended high school in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He began his college education at Western Michigan University before attending Columbia University, New York for his A.B., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in history.
